You are invited to join and help create an impromptu sunset song circle this Sunday, July 17, at 7pm. This circle is intended to support us through singing songs that help us connect to ourselves and each other, to rest and recharge amidst the maelstrom. We will sing songs of solidarity and sovereignty and whatever other songs are needed for the bodies, hearts, and souls in attendance. Bring your requests or post them in the comments so we can all refresh our memories!
Come as you are. All of you is welcome: your grief, your rage, your exhaustion, your numbness, your playfulness, your stubborn joy.
All songs will be taught/reviewed in the oral tradition and sung a cappella or with gentle percussion. No prior singing or musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to be present and raise your voice, exactly as it is. Our focus is on participation, not performance. If you don’t feel like singing, speak the words with us. If you don’t feel like speaking, feel free to listen, connect, and sit in the vibration and presence of your community.
We will gather and sing under the mesquites in Limberlost Family Park, 4255 N 4th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85705. Follow the path to the north side of the park, and you should see us. There are many folks and families who enjoy this park, so we will use the large, open field as an alternate site if the mesquite bosque is full.
Bring whatever you need to be comfortable in a grassy outdoor area: chairs, blankets, cushions, water, flashlight. The sun will likely be behind the trees by the time we gather.
Please be advised that this park is inhabited by a large and adorable colony of ground squirrels. They will likely be tucked up in their homes when we gather, but please be mindful of the MANY holes in the ground and watch your step!
There are no restroom facilities at this park, so plan accordingly!
